08:21 pm - a visit to crusty chud land
>Photobucket

I found this place yesterday. I browsed for a bit until I had an idea what was there. About twenty-five boxes of $5/5 for $20 lps, six boxes of $1 records and a few boxes of $2 records. Someone had actually taken the time to put duplicate copies of lps together, so one box was all Billy Joel, another all Barabara Streisand, runs of twenty or more copies of common LPs by Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Styx, etc. I picked out a couple of bargain crusty staples by Yes, David Crosby and Traffic. Then I lost interest in the actual purchase of said items and left to check out another store nearby. After the other store, I was too tired to go back and deal with all that crust.

Then this morning, I thought I should go back and have a look at the 45s and maybe buy a couple of the crusty chud specials anyway. So I went back, in the rain. The records I had found yesterday were exactly where I left them yesterday, which is exactly where I expected them to be...

This turned out to be the best find. $1. Well recorded guitar instrumentals with lots of pedal steel. Brand spanking, shiny, unplayed new looking vinyl. Mono:

I thought these Hoctor 45s looked interesting, and the store didn't have a turntable to try them on, so I took a chance.

but they're terrible.

So it goes. I love my Hawaii lp, and got 3 bargain crust albums by Traffic, Yes and David Crosby:

should I go back? They had a box I liked actually. Might have to go back and ask if the little red box with handles, on wheels, is for sale. Still some crust to explore if I'm in the mood for more cheap Hawaiian, Steely Dan, Wings, Hot Tuna, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep, Neil Young, Jethro Tull, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mahogany Rush, UK, Asia, Supertramp, ELO, etc. Should I pick up that Jo Jo Gunne lp?

Jo Jo Gunne were a good band - well worth picking up a cheap copy and Jethro Tull worth a punt.
